A publication outlining the Green Deal Opportunities for Industry has been published jointly by the Construction Products Association Green Deal Project Team and the Energy Efficiency Partnership for Homes.

The publication, written by industry for industry, is aimed at manufacturers, distributors, main contractors and installers and provides a useful introduction for all organisations, both large and small, that are interested in finding out more about how to work within the Green Deal.  The publication is available electronically here.

Although the publication is not to be used for legal compliance with Green Deal requirements it will, when used in conjunction with DECC’s official documents and procedures, provide an invaluable introduction and understanding of the opportunities available for industry when the Green Deal is introduced later this year.

Commenting on the publication, John Tebbit, Industry Affairs Director at the Construction Products Association said; ‘Although it is early days within the Green Deal, which is still under consultation, the framework is now established.  So despite the fact that some working details may change, now is the time for those companies that are interested in the potential opportunities of Green Deal to begin to investigate how they should prepare and what they need to be aware of.  This publication provides the introduction industry needs and will give companies a head start in their preparations.’

Peter Hindle MBE, general delegate for Saint-Gobain UK, Ireland and South Africa, added: ‘Saint-Gobain was delighted to provide direct input and support to help produce this informative and practical guide.  The Green Deal represents a huge opportunity for the construction sector, so ensuring our customers are equipped with the knowledge and skills to understand and respond to future energy efficiency challenges is key if the industry is to benefit from the Green Deal.’

The publication has also been welcomed by the Minister of State for Climate Change who in his Foreword to the publication writes, ‘I am pleased to be able to introduce the wide range of Green Deal Opportunities for Industry.  This document is in itself an example of how collaborative working can help companies prepare for the Green Deal.  It highlights how many firms are already gearing up to enter this new market, as well as showcasing previous examples of the installation of energy efficiency measures.’

Copies of the Publication are available at the Construction Products Association’s website.
