Appointment at the Code for Construction Product Information

This announcement was issued today (30 June) by CPA Chief Executive Peter Caplehorn:

The CPA is delighted to see the launch of the Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI) go from strength to strength this year. We are seeing a number of CPA members included in the first wave of assessment and verification, and many more lined up for future waves. This is a good opportunity to remind you that the Code is open for business and taking expressions of interest in assessment and verification from manufacturers of all construction products. If you haven’t registered to participate already, I’d encourage you to do so.

CPI Ltd. (the independent organisation set up to administer the CCPI) has been led by its Interim Chief Executive, Steve Marr from SIG, since the beginning of the year. Steve has been contributing on secondment from SIG and has successfully ramped up engagement with manufacturers and other parts of the supply chain and overseen the first wave of intake for assessment and verification. I would like to thank him for his valued contribution and expertise. Our industry owes him a huge amount of gratitude.  Steve Marr’s time as Interim Chief Executive comes to an end in July, however he will stay supporting CPI Ltd. in the role of Interim Chief Operating Officer.

In light of this, I’m delighted to share that the CPI Ltd. board has agreed to appoint Amanda Long as CPI Ltd.’s new Chief Executive Officer. Amanda brings substantial knowledge and understanding of the built environment sector and valuable experience setting up and running national schemes to raise standards in the construction sector. Previously, Amanda was instrumental in starting up the Code for Construction Product Information. Over the past few months, Amanda has been working as an independent consultant for the OPSS (where the new Construction Products Regulator will sit) and has been engaging regularly with manufacturers and other parts of the supply chain to prepare industry for the significant regulatory and governance changes on the horizon.

It goes without saying that Amanda will bring a wealth of knowledge to this role and we’re delighted to have someone of her calibre take on this dedicated brief to progress and develop the Code, overseeing its uptake with industry and promotion to government.

I hope you will join me in congratulating Amanda and supporting her as she helps our industry embrace the regulatory changes on the horizon. I have no doubt she will help ensure the CCPI is delivering value to the construction products regulator, the wider supply chain and, crucially, manufacturers.
