CPA comments on the passing of Her Majesty The Queen

Peter Caplehorn, CPA Chief Executive, said:  “The CPA and our members join the nation in mourning the passing of Her Majesty The Queen.

“HRH Queen Elizabeth II tirelessly served this nation and offered an unfailing example of the best of British values. She dedicated her life to the people of the UK and the Commonwealth, and her leadership will be greatly missed.

“This loss comes at a time of great stress for many.  I imagine she would want us all to face the future with the same courage, care and compassion for others that she demonstrated for many years.  We extend our sympathies to her family and friends.”

The Royal Household will set out arrangements on Lying-in-State and the State Funeral.  Businesses are encouraged to follow updates on and the Royal Website.

Government informs us that business across the UK should continue to operate normally but there are some considerations you may wish to make, including:

  • providing an opportunity for your staff to offer their condolences, either by providing your own book of condolence or by directing them to the online book of condolence at the Royal website;
  • identifying arrangements made by Local Authorities to lay floral or memorial tributes;
  • signposting staff on how to donate to one of The Queen’s patronages, with information available on the Royal website;
  • identifying whether your business location is likely to be impacted by arrangements made by Local Authorities, or events planned in central London, and planning your response;
  • considering any changes you might wish to make to your website and social media activities; and
  • where you have flags, lowering them to half-mast.
