We are receiving reports that some UK manufacturers are experiencing difficulties in finding an EU27 Notified Body which will accept the transfer of certificates issued by a UK Notified Body.

Weekly Notes - 13 September 2019

Reverse charge VAT was due to come into force from 1 October 2019 but the government announced its decision to delay implementation until 1 October 2020 after a coalition of construction organisations, including the CPA and led by the FMB, wrote to the government to point out the damaging impact this policy would have on the sector if forced onto the industry during this time of Brexit uncertainty.

This week the Queen approved the Government’s request to prorogue (suspend) Parliament between the second week of September and October, to “…bring forward a new, bold and ambitious domestic legislative agenda for the renewal of our country following Brexit.”

With the ongoing uncertainties surrounding both Brexit and a possible general election, the CPA has reluctantly decided to reschedule its Parliamentary Reception and will find a new date for the event, probably early in 2020.

Weekly Notes - 9 August 2019

ONS data published today shows that construction ouput contracted 1.3% in the second quarter of 2019, reversing the 1.4% growth recorded in Q1 and contributing to a fall in UK GDP, along with the manufacturing sector. Weekly Notes - 2 August 2019

The CPA’s Summer Forecast for 2019-2021 anticipates a 0.3% decline in total construction output for 2019, in line with previous projections, but the forecasts for 2020 and 2021 have been revised down to 1.0% and 1.4% from 1.4% and 1.7% respectively since the Spring.
