General Election 2017
With the snap general election confirmed for 8 June, and parliament dissolved on 3 May, the CPA will continue to ensure we are a leading voice in campaigning for the industry. The polls currently indicate a landslide victory for the Conservatives, which would increase the party’s current working majority of 17 in the House of Commons.
In the short term, the announcement adds a little more speculation for the UK economy and will temporarily aggravate the uncertainty around the key issues that are important for our industry. Consequently, in the lead up to the election we strongly recommend members to engage with your local candidates and help them understand your concerns and the strategic importance of the industry.
